Contradictions

If you help people
They will come back to you every time they need help
But still help them if you can

If you love someone deeply
He/she will break your heart someday
But still love when ever you can with all your heart

If you smile always
Life will try hard to make you cry
But still smile 'cause life is too small to be sad

If you forgive people once
They will come back to stab you again
But still forgive them for your own good

If you are kind enough to lend one finger
People will grab your hand and pull you down
But still lend help whenever you can

If you do good to people
They might forget it tomorrow
But still do good whenever you can

Whatever you are, will be questioned
Whatever you will be tomorrow, would still be questioned
At the end what matters is what you want to be and what you are...

    1. Indeed Vandana, if it was that easy world would have been such a better place to live in.

  3. Absolutely right. Who we want to be is certainly up to us. I've had this one time when nothing was going right even though I kept doing the right things. A certain quote by Wordsworth kept me by those days, "However things may seem, no evil thing is success and no good thing is failure"
    .
Your poem just reminded me of that. Anyways, very inspiring!

    1. Such a beautiful quote you have quoted Anand....We all have been in that place once in our life, where giving up seems right than doing things right.

  4. Such wonderful wisdom! I love your message that we should continue doing good come what may. I hope your poem gets many more comments because it deserves to be read. I love the almost refrain-like effect of the last line of every stanza. Cheers :)

  5. I really like the philosophy you have shared in this poem. Interestingly, in church today we had a sermon about this very kind of thing. We should love the people who are difficult to love, forgive the people who are difficult to forgive, etc. Your message strongly resonates with me.

  6. There is a ton of life wisdom in this poem, and you are still so young! I love the whole concept of loving and helping and giving, no matter what return because, as you point out, it's what makes us who we are, regardless of how our gifts are received.
